Overview

As Posh operates as a marketplace for organizer to sell tickets to their events, Posh is required to file 1099s (1099-K specifically) on behalf of organizers via our payment platform, Stripe. A 1099 tax form is used to report various types of income and payment transactions.

Organizers are required to file 1099-K if:

FAQs

  • Q: I'm new here. What exactly ... are 1099 forms?

    • A: 1099 forms are federal income tax information forms used to report earnings and proceeds other than wages, salaries, and tips (which are reported on the federal W-2 form). The forms are filed with the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and, if required, state tax departments.

  • Q: I signed up for Posh as an individual, but I now have an entity (i.e. LLC, company, corporation). How can I change my 1099 form?

    • A: Our Support Team will have to adjust your account on Stripe manually. Simply write into our team via Chat or Email along with your SS-4 document and we can make this change for you and re-issue your 1099 form.

      • Note: while we can change the business type year-round, we will only be able to amend 1099 forms until the tax deadline of April 15.

Q: How does state filing work?

  • Q: My organization is a single-member LLC, why does the 1099 form include my Social Security Number (SSN) instead of my EIN number?

    • A: This is expected! The IRS expects to see an SSN provided on 1099 forms for Single Person Entities (SPEs).

  • Q: Why didn't I receive a 1099 form?

    • A: First, check your inbox and spam folders for email with this subject line, "Get your Posh 2025 tax forms faster by enabling e-delivery".

      • Note: make sure you check with your colleagues who may have set up your Posh account.

    • If still nothing, double-check that your account meet the requirements explained above.

      • If you meet the requirements and still do not see the email, reach out to our Support Team to further investigate.

  • Q: How are refunds / disputes factored into the overall income reported on 1099 forms?

    • A: Stripe is required to report total gross volume (source); thus, Stripe cannot change amounts on 1099 forms. Per IRS regulations, both full and partial refunds are not deducted from the gross volume.

    • Only the Name, Address and TIN (SSN or EIN) can be updated on a 1099 tax form.

    • Since neither Posh nor Stripe can directly assist in this process, we recommend that you consult your accountant or tax advisor for help.
