Stripe Onboarding 101: Common Roadblocks & Fixes

Learn how to troubleshoot Stripe financial verification issues, resolve rejected business website links, fix mismatched bank accounts, and set up accounts for minors.

Onboarding your Posh account with Stripe Connect is your financial gateway to processing ticket sales and unlocking payouts. If your financial onboarding gets stuck or your payouts show as disabled, Stripe's underwriting system has flagged a missing or conflicting piece of data.

Use this playbook to quickly diagnose and fix the most common onboarding roadblocks.

Roadblock 1: Business Website Verification Failure

To comply with global financial regulations, Stripe must verify your brand presence. Accounts are flagged if the submitted website link is blank, broken, password-protected, or under construction.

Verification Criteria for Approval

  • Publicly Accessible: The page cannot be private or display an "Under Construction" graphic.

  • Relevant Content: The site must clearly describe the entertainment, ticketing, arts, or hospitality services you provide.

  • Compliance: The page cannot reference or promote federally prohibited goods or services.

💡 What to Use If You Do Not Have a Website: You do not need to buy a custom web domain. You can paste a publicly accessible business social media profile link directly into the website field.

  • Allowed Links: Business Instagram, corporate LinkedIn, official Facebook page, or a public Linktree.

  • Forbidden Links: Generic URLs (e.g., typing just facebook.com without your handle) or private personal accounts. Your public feed must clearly showcase event flyers, portfolios, or hosting history.

Roadblock 2: Bank Account and Document Mismatches

If Stripe cannot confirm your bank data, payouts pause instantly. This is usually caused by a typo or a structural mismatch between your selected entity type and the legal name on your checking account.

Entity and Bank Name Alignment Rules

Stripe Business Structure Selected

Required Bank Account Holder Name

Individual

Your legal name or officially registered personal DBA (Doing Business As).

Sole Proprietor / Single-Member LLC

Your registered business name, corporate DBA, or personal legal representative name.

Multi-Member LLC / Corporation / Non-Profit

The company's full legal business name or verified corporate DBA.

Resolving Bank Document Rejections

If automated systems fail to verify your routing network, you must upload a supporting verification document generated within the past 12 months. Stripe accepts:

  • An official bank statement.

  • A voided or canceled check.

  • A signed bank verification letter printed on official bank letterhead.

📋 Document Verification Checklist: The file must be uploaded as a single, clear PDF containing all pages. The document must explicitly display the Bank’s Name, Account Owner’s Name, and Full Checking Account Number exactly matching your Posh profile. Low-resolution photos or blurry image formats are automatically rejected by Stripe.

Roadblock 3: Setting Up an Account for a Minor

Posh and Stripe fully support minors as event organization owners, but additional authentication steps are legally required to satisfy financial compliance gates.

Account Structures for Minors

  • Add a Legal Guardian: A legal guardian or adult representative must be explicitly added to the onboarding profile to serve as the verified Account Representative.

  • Routing Funds to the Minor: The minor can use their personal checking account only if their legal adult guardian is listed as the primary account representative during onboarding.

  • Routing Funds to the Guardian: Alternatively, you can list the legal guardian as the primary account owner and route all event earnings directly into the guardian's verified bank account instead.
