SMS is one of the most powerful tools to reach your audience. This guide explores how to leverage Posh’s messaging capabilities to drive ticket sales and manage attendee communication at both the organizational and event levels.
⚠️ The Marketing tab has been removed. SMS Blasts can now be found in the Attendees tab OR within the Events tab.

To Set Up a Custom Phone Number (Organization Settings):

Under the Organization tab, look for the Custom phone number row under General and click See options on the right side.
Past SMS blasts are on the same page — click the Past SMS blasts tab to view previous campaigns.
Brand Identity: Custom Phone Numbers
By default, system messages route through shared short-codes. To build localized brand recognition, you can provision a dedicated, consistent phone number.
Log in to your Posh dashboard as an Organizer.
Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
Under the As an organizer section, select Settings.
On the Organization tab, look for the Custom phone number row under General.
Click See options on the right side.
Pricing: Dedicated routing incurs a $19.99/month subscription fee.
⚠️ Hard Billing Guardrail: This subscription fee is completely non-refundable. It applies continuously once provisioned, regardless of whether the line sits idle or if zero outbound texts are dispatched during a billing cycle.
Note: You can terminate your custom line lease at any point by starting a live chat with us through Posh web, or the in-app chat, or by emailing us at [email protected].
Creating Your SMS Blast
When building a campaign in the New SMS blast panel, an overhead counter tracks your available allowance (e.g., "You have X SMS blasts remaining"). Complete these steps to compose your message:
SMS Blast Name: Enter an internal tracking title (strictly for backend bookkeeping; never visible to buyers).
Recipients: Click the selection dropdown to open your subscriber contact drawer. You can search for individual names, check specific subscriber boxes manually, or choose Select all to target your whole audience.
Message Workspace: Type your text directly into the copy field. The built-in counter tracks your structural length metrics in real time (e.g.,
20/140 characters).Deploy Personalization: Use the First name and Last name macro options to automatically inject dynamic customer profile tags (
{{firstName}},{{lastName}}) into your text.Live Phone Preview: As you compose your message, an interactive phone mockup on the right side simulates exactly how the SMS text string will render on your attendees' device screens.
Send or Reset: Click Reset to clear all input fields completely, or click Send to [X] attendees to push the broadcast directly to mobile networks.
Auditing Past SMS Blasts & Delivery Status
Navigate to the Past SMS blasts tab next to your composer window to review historical performance data:
Event Filter Tool: Use the Events dropdown menu to filter your performance data between All events or specific individual productions.
Campaign History Manifest: Scroll through your archived message cards to view blast titles, execution timestamps, exact message copy strings, and total recipient volume.
Real-Time Delivery Ledger: Click on any historical campaign card to display an absolute status breakdown column. This panel displays individual recipient names, verified cell phone numbers, and live carrier network status tokens (e.g.,
✓ Delivered).
Automated Event Alerts (Transactional Updates)
To keep consumers informed of emergency logistics or sudden production updates, Posh utilizes automated, system-triggered transactional routing.
If you adjust critical parameters on your primary Edit Event page, clicking Save launches a mandatory alert confirmation modal. This is not optional — you cannot publish the update without confirming that an SMS alert will be sent to your attendees. Posh automatically dispatches the alert to every attendee who has a phone number on file when you alter:
Location Changes 📍 (e.g., Venue shifts or sudden room re-assignments).
Date & Time Adjustments 🕰️ (e.g., Door delays, postponement windows, or curfew shifts).
Major Description Updates 📝 (e.g., Headliner lineup changes or cancellation updates).
Attendees receive a system-generated text message notifying them of the specific change (e.g., the new date and time, or the updated venue address). These alerts reach every attendee with a phone number on file, including those who have opted out of standard marketing SMS — because they are classified as protective transactional updates, not promotional messages.
💡 Note on Credits: Because event alerts are transactional — not promotional — they do not draw from your marketing SMS credit balance. Sending an alert will not consume or reduce your available blast allowance.
⚠️ Important: Date and time alerts
Any time change—even one hour—sends an alert to ticket holders with a phone number on file. Support cannot suppress it.
Alerts show only what changed: the updated time, date, or both.
Technical Specs & Content Rules
To protect your delivery reputation and ensure local mobile carriers do not block your text drops, you must adhere to strict cellular engineering parameters:
The "Emoji Tax" Limitations: Standard text messages allow up to 140 plain-text characters. However, including a single emoji, special symbol, or non-standard character alters the underlying data encoding, dynamically scaling back your maximum limit to approximately 115 characters per text unit. Watch your character counter carefully to avoid burning double credits.
Frequency & Velocity Restrictions: * Global / Org Level: Restricted to a maximum of 10 distinct blasts per rolling 30-day window to protect users from spam flags.
Event-Level: Enjoy unlimited blasts targeting that specific production's buying crowd up until 3 days after your event officially concludes.
Content Safety Framework: Marketing messages are systematically filtered by networks. To guarantee clean delivery, your text body must not contain profanity, explicit language, or direct references to federally regulated spaces (including drugs, cannabis, or alcohol brands). Keep your promotional copy clean to maintain optimal open rates.
