Understanding Disputes: A Guide for Posh Organizers

Updated over a week ago

We've launched the Disputes Dashboard, designed to simplify how you manage attendee disputes. You'll now receive email alerts for all disputes, ensuring you're always in the loop!

Refunds are requested directly by attendees from the organizer and are processed through Posh's system. Disputes, initiated through the attendee's card issuer, involve Stripe as an intermediary and culminate in a resolution decided by the bank. Understanding this difference is crucial for effective dispute management.

Dashboard Features:

  • Centralized Management: View and manage all disputes in one place.

  • Direct Evidence Submission: Upload files and text as evidence.

  • Outcome Tracking: Easily see dispute outcomes.

  • Analytics & Charts: Access detailed dispute data.

  • Attendee Management: Search and block high-risk attendees.

How to Access the Disputes Dashboard:

  1. Log in to POSH via web.

  2. Navigate to the Finance tab and select the Disputes section.

  3. Review any disputes listed, including their status and the option to submit evidence.

  4. Important Note: Stripe charges a $15.00 upfront fee for all attendee disputes. Posh covers this fee if the dispute is won or withdrawn. For Lost disputes, the disputed amount plus the $15.00 fee will be deducted from your Posh balance (or linked bank account if insufficient).

Dispute Statuses Explained

Needs Response:

  • The dispute is currently under review by the issuing bank.

  • You have a limited time to respond with compelling evidence.

  • Failure to respond may result in the dispute being automatically resolved in favor of the attendee.

  • Even after you upload your evidence, the status may still show Needs Response. This is expected—Stripe only auto-submits your evidence once the deadline is reached. Until then, the system will continue to display this status.

    • We're working to improve how this status is displayed to make it clearer when evidence has already been submitted.

Under Review:

  • The dispute has been submitted to the attendee's bank with your provided evidence.

  • The bank's review process typically takes 30-60 days.

Won:

  • The dispute has been resolved in your favor. No further action is required.

Lost:

  • The bank has ruled in favor of the attendee.

  • The disputed amount, along with a $15.00 Stripe dispute fee, will be deducted from your Posh balance.

  • If your balance is insufficient, the funds will be withdrawn from your linked bank account.

Add Your Organization’s Contact Information

To ensure you receive dispute notifications without delay, make sure your organization contact information—especially your email address—is added and up to date.

This ensures that all dispute notifications will reach you promptly through the designated contact channels.

When an attendee files a dispute, the notification email is sent directly to the organizer’s listed email address.

If no organization email is listed, notifications will instead go to the Owner’s account email (which may be a personal address).

🔒 Rest assured, we never share your personal email address with attendees under any circumstance.

Keeping your organization’s contact details updated helps you respond quickly and stay informed about any dispute activity. Remember, timely responses and strong evidence are crucial in resolving disputes in your favor.
