Waitlist & Ticket Returns: A Guide for Attendees

Sold out doesn’t always mean sold out. With the Waitlist, you can join a queue for tickets that become available—either from returns or when more are released!
This feature is available on both the mobile app and web.

Why Join the Waitlist?

  • Another chance to attend – Add yourself to the list when tickets sell out.

  • Fast notifications – If a spot opens, you’ll get an alert by Push, SMS, or Email.

  • Fair system – Everyone gets the same short claim window (30 minutes) before the offer passes to the next person.

  • Easy returns – If you can’t go anymore, you may be able to return your ticket (fees excluded) so someone else can attend.

Joining the Waitlist

Getting Started

  1. When tickets sell out, a “Join Waitlist” button appears on the event page.

2. Once you join, you’ll see a Waitlist tab in My Orders (alongside Upcoming & Past).

3. Your status is Pending until a ticket offer is made.

Claiming and Purchasing Your Ticket

If a matching ticket becomes available, you’ll receive a notification by push notification, SMS, or email. You’ll have 30 minutes to claim and purchase it before the offer expires and passes to the next person.

Important: Complete your purchase in the Posh app 📌

Waitlist tickets can only be claimed and purchased in the Posh app. If you joined the waitlist through a web browser, download the app and sign in to the same account before you receive an offer.

Tip: ⭐️ Turn on SMS notifications 🔔

Getting an Offer

  1. If a matching ticket becomes available, you’ll get a Push, SMS, or Email notification.

2. You’ll have ⏱ 30 minutes to claim your ticket.

3. If you miss the window, the ticket goes to the next person, and the ticket offer will expire — you will be removed from the waitlist.

⚙️ Managing Your Waitlist

  • Cancel / Leave Waitlist – Removes you from the queue.

  • Update Waitlist Order – If available, you can request more tickets.

Returning a Ticket

Starting a Return

  1. From My Orders, select the ticket(s) you want to return.

  2. You’ll only see the return option if:

    • There is an active Waitlist for the event

    • The ticket is paid (free tickets or tickets discounted to $0 via promo code are not eligible for return)

Returned tickets are placed in Pending Return status and added back to the waitlist pool.

Important Note: 📌 If the organizer changes the ticket type price after purchase and your original ticket purchase price is higher than the current ticket type price, the ticket cannot be returned to the waitlist pool.

Canceling a Return

If your ticket is still in Pending Return status, you can choose Cancel Return.
This will remove the ticket from the waitlist pool and put it back in your account as an active ticket.

Important Reminder: 📌
This article only applies to Waitlist Ticket Returns for sold out events.

It does not apply to:

  • Standard refund requests or regular ticket refunds

  • Refund cancellations or refund reversals

Waitlist ticket returns are different from regular refund requests submitted to an Organizer.

Refund Process

  • If another attendee buys your returned ticket → Refund issued automatically (minus fees).

  • If no one buys it before the event starts, → The ticket stays in your account and no refund is given.

  • You can still use your ticket if it wasn’t resold.

Key Rules to Remember

  • ⏱ Claim windows are strict → 30 minutes only, no extensions.

  • 💵 Refunds only happen if resale is successful before the event starts.

  • 🕒 Pending Returns expire at event start → tickets not resold revert to you.

  • 🔔 No notifications if your ticket doesn’t resell → you’ll only be notified if a buyer claims it.

Important Timing Rules

Waitlist activity is time-sensitive. As the event approaches, some actions may no longer be available:

  • No new waitlist tickets within 1 hour of event start
Returned tickets won’t be added to the waitlist during this window.

  • Waitlist offers stop 1 hour before the event
If you’re on the waitlist, you won’t receive new offers once the event is within 1 hour of starting.

  • Waitlist purchases close at event start time
You won’t be able to claim or purchase tickets from the waitlist after the event begins.
